Melissa Lucio

Fourteen years ago, Melissa Lucio’s two year old daughter Mariah fell down a steep flight of stairs, and tragically died two days later.

Melissa Lucio has been on death row ever since.

Melissa Lucio is set to be murdered by the state of Texas next month. It was the baseless execution of a man name George Floyd that sparked the energy of the BLM movement in 2020, which is still being felt today. The difference is that we can do something about this one.

If you claim to distrust the judgement of cops, particularly in their capacity to kill people at their own discretion, you must approach prosecutors with the same suspicion. If you remember the execution of Dustin Higgs, you’ll be very aware of how prosecutors are prone to preventing evidence from being shared with defendants, capitalizing on local racism, and using all kind of shady tactics to maintain the crime statistics that are most beneficial to them.

District Attorney Armando Villalobos is such a prosecutor. Though the alleged confession of Lucio relies on a history of abuse toward her children, no such abuse was proven to exist.

According to The Innocence Project:

“Nearly one in three exonerated women were wrongly convicted of harming children or other loved ones in their care and nearly 70% were wrongfully convicted of crimes that never took place at all.”

I want this case to be different. We can make it different.
